Join Beth Novey as she shares tips for making photo books for young children that can help connect them with their roots and keep them in touch with grandparents and other family members at a time when traveling isn’t easy. She’ll illustrate by showing some personalized books she’s made for her own toddler – a family photo book, and one that takes a little one on a bedtime “tour” of Takoma Park. She’ll help us think about what a family history book for kids might look like. And she’ll do a brief overview of some of the online book-making options, and share a few apps that can make your images look like paintings for more of a picture book feel.
Beth is a producer for NPR's Arts, Books & Culture desk. She creates and edits web features, plans multimedia projects, and coordinates the web presence for Fresh Air and Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me! And, she’s a member of the Village of Takoma Park! As a bonus for participants, she has offered to create a personalized copy of her “Time for Bed, Takoma Park” for your grandchild(ren), or other young person in your life. Details on ordering and payment for printing and shipping to be announced.
If time allows, we’ll open up the discussion to hear your own ideas and experiences on ways to strengthen the bonds with grandchildren during this time.
